Hanoi!

Before coming to Hanoi I met so many travelers that told me they didn't like it. I had the exact opposite impression, I really enjoyed the city! I think a lot of it had to do with the hostel I was staying at though because it was so social and full of young backpackers. Yesterday I did the walking tour in the morning which was fun to see the city with our own little tour guide. It was about 2.5 hours and was a blast. We walked around town, saw lots of markets and then all got lunch and were taken to this coffee shop. From the outside you would've had no idea it was a coffee shop because we entered a dirt alley and then hiked upstairs to get there! It was weird but yummy coffee. Hanoi is known for "egg coffee" so I decided to try it and google exactly what it was later. It was so so sweet but tasted pretty good. Later I found out it was coffee with condensed milk and egg whites.

This lake is the only lake in the world with this type of turtle who are almost extinct. Theres only 5 left and the turtles live between 500-600 years!!!

My new friends!

Lunch! Pork in a sweet and sour broth.

The rest of the day I hung out with these 2 girls, one from Colorado and one from Australia. We spent the day just hanging out and trying to make our plan for today! For dinner we googled the best place to get a Bahn Mi sandwich and according to trip advisor went to the #1 spot. It was so yummy! Vietnamese food is really good. We shopped around after a little and I got a North Face Jacket for $14!! Whether it's real or not, who cares. Sapa where I am headed right now is supposed to be really cold and I didn't bring a jacket so that's why I bought it.

Dinner! The tables are all this size....SO SMALL!

Honey chicken Bahn Mi.

We went back to the hostel after and I found Mike! I feel like a common question this trip is "Where's Mike?" Lol. He had a long journey but I took him to the BBQ place for dinner and then we had a few beers. This morning we woke up and got on a sleeper bus to Sapa, Vietnam! I am so excited because the pictures look gorgeous. We are planning on exploring town today and staying in a hostel and tomorrow doing a trekking tour and homestay with a local family.

The sleeper bus!
