The next day Mary and I took a boat cruise to 4 different islands close to Phi Phi. The first one we saw Monkeys!!! The water was so green and clear and the rest of our stops and we enjoyed snorkeling and just hanging on the boat. We made some really funny friends from Manchester. Mike decided to take the day to relax.
January 2 we had a boat planned for the afternoon to leave the island so we were all going to scuba dive in the morning but sadly I got an ear infection so I couldn't. Mike decided to go and he said he saw turtles and little sharks...so jealous! Mary and I had a nice day walking around the town and of course...got a massage :) that afternoon we headed to Krabi for the night before our morning flight.
Our hostel in Phi Phi
Mary headed back to Chiang Mai and I am now in Vietnam! Mike was supposed to join me but he didn't book his flight in time so he will be here tomorrow. Poor thing is on a 13 hour bus to get to Bangkok then has a flight to Hanoi tomorrow afternoon.
My first impressions of Hanoi were that this town is crazy. My taxi driver was driving so scary and drove with his hazard lights on the whole time. I was a little nervous because I never traveled alone this far away but I am having such a great time! I met some great people and am staying at a very social hostel. Tonight I went with my new friends to a BBQ place on the street where we cooked our own food in front of us. I keep loving the ideas and concepts of places we eat but then realize we could never do them in the US bc of health regulations. Bummer!
Street BBQ
Tomorrow I am planning on taking a walking tour of the town in the morning but other than that don't have many plans for the rest of the week!
Check out these pictures from the night market we stumbled upon in Krabi!
