Day one we just explored and walked around. This is when Mike got alterations on his suit and picked out the style and color. For dinner we stumbled upon this cute place on the river and they had a coconut seafood curry that was to die for! We both ordered it.
The following day we were planning on riding bikes to the beach but it was raining. Instead we found a place that sold beers for $0.25 so we hungout there for a bit and played games/made friends. It was nice to have a relaxing day and to be in the same town for a few days rather than continue packing up and moving. For dinner we ended up going back to the same seafood place :)
The following day we took a cooking class! It was so much fun! Our teacher, Van, picked us up from our hostel and drove us to a local market to get the ingredients. There was a total of 10 people in the class so we all picked different dishes. It was unique because when we made the dishes it was for 10 people not just 1 so we got to try so many things and were full by dish 4 but had to keep eating. It was one of my favorite days so far. I decided to learn how to cook a seafood curry with coconut milk (because I love it so much) and Mike chose the caramelized pork belly! After the market we were invited into Van's home where she taught us how to prep and cook our dishes.
Our funny hats we wore to the market!
Mike and I shopping
My squid that later I had to take apart and chop up!
The following day was sunny and beautiful so we decided to ride bikes to the beach which took about 25 mins. The beach was pretty but it was a little foggy and the water was so cold! We ended up hanging on some lounge chairs and making friends with a couple from Australia. It's been fun meeting so many travelers and kind of hearing their story!
Our waitress was named "Meow"
That's night we traveled to Danang because we had an early morning flight the next day. We had a crazy itinerary because it was the cheapest route....we were supposed to go from Hoi An ---> Hanoi, Hanoi ---> Bangkok and then Bangkok --> Siem Reap but I ended up missing my second flight. In Hoi An they made me check my luggage which I wasn't planning on doing so once I was in Bangkok I had to re go through customs and passport control and it was a nightmare. Mike made his flight and I rebooked on another airline so was just a few hours behind. It was a long day of travel.....14 hours later I was at the hostel. Now we are in Siem Reap, Cambodia! Meeting back up with Mary on Friday.
